It was a fabulous holiday, but it’s time to say goodbye to my little Cornish posts and move on. But before I do, I thought I might just do one more Cornwall related thing and give something away. So I’m going to give a lucky person, not one, not two…but three fab Jenny Colgan books! I loved reading Polly’s Cornish adventures and I’m sure that the adventures of a rather cute little puffin will be a big hit with a younger reader.
All you need to do is write a comment about where your favourite holiday destination is in the UK and why.The lucky person to receive the books will be chosen by the “name out of a hat” method which will take place after 6pm on Thursday 30th April. I’m afraid only UK readers are eligable for the give away.
My favourite holiday destination is Paignton – my grandma and grandad used to go there on holiday with their young family (my – auntie and my Dad) for many years – family albums are full of holidays showing them having a lovely time. A few years back I went with my young children and it was as if time had stood still, the sun shone, we walked everywhere, the children played on the beach and we all ate ice creams – we loved it so much. It’s a struggle every year as I just want to go back!

I love Dorset. We married down there 16 years ago whilst on holiday and have returned many times since with our children. Durdle Door has many special memories for us. It’s a beautiful place.

My mum and dad have photos of family holidays in Paignton but I don’t remember going there. I think we often return and fall in love with somewhere that has happy childhood memories. I loved family holidays there, but never returned until my children were small. I can’t get enough of the place now!xx

I have always lived in Devon so family holidays for us was usually camping trips to Devon or Cornwall. But my favourite place has to be St Merryn, near Newquay. I remember getting lost in the narrow, winding lanes late at night and just going round and round as there were no signposts. But we always had a good laugh and when we returned home via Tamar Bridge we used to sing very loudly as we approached the pay kiosk. Usually the song was “if you’re happy and you know it clap your hands” . Ahh happy days.
